Why Yoga?

Why has the number of American practitioners of yoga risen from 4 million in 2001 to 20 million in 2011? Why does Dr. Oz so passionately encourage his patients to practice? What is Yoga, really?

Yoga is a sanskrit word meaning “union”; its an ancient scientific approach to connecting body and mind. You can use the practice to meet any goal you have, whether its as basic as flexibility and injury prevention or as deep as manifesting your highest potential.
Yoga is for everyone.
If you have an injury or handicap, there is a practice for you. If you are an athlete hoping to take your game to the next level, there is a practice for you. The most common hesitation I hear from prospective students in their lack of flexibility. Everyone starts out as a beginner! I will offer lots of modifications that will allow you to work at your own pace within your comfort zone. As your teacher, I would love to hear any questions you have, as well as why you are practicing, so that I can effectively guide you toward your goal.
